My Dearest Old Boys and Girls,

I would like to thank you, dear alumni, on behalf of your juniors, for being there for them all the time and taking time off from your busy schedules to share with your juniors.

We all know this time round things have not been easy but you were there to keep the fire going. Because we had Viva La Musica III today, then there is a chance for IV. Without you,we would not have been able to keep the tradition going.

Originally, I wanted to give special mentions to some of you. Then I thought, it wouldn't be fair. All of you gave more than what you could have given. I see Tuba alumni helping with Percussion, I see trumpet Alumni spending extra time with juniors, I see some of you rushing to make afternoon practices, panting from running or walking fast and so many more selfless gestures which I cannot possibly include in this short email.

This, is the joy of teaching. To see the students I have taught grown into passionate, ,confident, matured, responsible and caring young adults.

My sincere apologies to some of you who had to weather my shelling when things did not go too smoothly. I seek your understanding on that and I thank you for your patience with me.

Somebody asked me after the concert if it was up to my standard. This is my answer: I think where music is concerned, there will always be room for improvement. But when it comes to enjoying on stage and the strong sense of camaraderie, nobody beats Bedok North Alumni.

Once again, thank you for all the hard work and I look forward to making music with you again.

There'll be a rehearsal this coming Wed over at NYP from 7pm-9pm.

We've just been told tat the Alumni are allowed to perform for Bedok North's public performance at Botanic Gardens.
If some of you guys know, its an Annual Band Fiesta event.

Another good news.
The current Sec4s will also be playing together with the current main band. We need as many alumni to play in order to make this event a HAPPENING one. and also to show our wild side to the public.
I'm pretty sure you know what i mean.. RIGHT kesians boyz?
haha!

so here are the details about the event.

Date: July 8th 2007
Venue: Botanical Garden
Time: TBC

1. El Cumbanchero.
2. Disco Kid.
3. I Need to be Loved.
4. Soranbushi - Rock Version.

For pieces 1,2 and 4, we need as much percussionists as possible. KESIANS! c'mon.
For piece number 3 is an Alto Saxophone featuring Muhd. Idham as our Soloist. :))

Kinda disappointed that the alumni is getting weaker day by day.
When we asked about NYP performance, FEW replied when the band is really in need of players.

hope to see the alumni band be strong again like it used to be back in those days.

Just a gentle reminder. Have u all mail to Hazizi about whether you're interested to play at Jurong Bird Park with our Juniors [main band] and that performance at NYP as guest band?? hi to all...

jus in case to those who diden r'cv any mail from me.
here's an update bout the parent's night.

those parent's coming this Thurs for the Parent's Night, pls have ur parents to start walking into the school hall at around 7pm. There'll be a slide presentation for their viewing pleasure. [its not part of the program.. its jus to keep them entertained]

the whole thing will promptly start at around 7:30. Hopefully all the parents are already seated waiting for the emcee to take over.
that part is for those parents coming.

NOW its for those coming to PLAY with the Main Band & also for those COMING to HELP OUT.

Please kindly report in BN's AVA room at 3:45pm (i hope u guys still know where it is.. lol)

Rehearsals will start at around 4pm (thats if the hall is ready for us to use). other than that, try to be punctual.

Briefing will be held (by Fidah) in the ava/hall. So look out for her ever-oh-so-loud voice.. :D

Dear all,

Sorry for the much delay of a new layout. I will update more of the details once my examinations are over! This layout seems fresh and hope you guys like it although it has yet to be completed!

ANYWAY.

On 15th February 2006, Bedok North Secondary is having some carnival which i'm going to ask for more details from the teachers when i'm going to BN. It's more for the alumni and it's a reunion for all ages!

Fellow friends and budding musicians, I am honoured to be elected President of the Department of Members and Alumni Affairs – Bedok North Symphonic Band for 2007. First of all I’d like to congratulate the band for clinching a Gold award for the Festival Of Winds 2006.I’d like to thank all those who made it possible for the creation of the alumni band. The Alumni band has given us ex-students opportunities to once again perform. Currently we do not get to perform very often however I will try to help the band get more performing opportunities, be it in school or at public places and venues. I would also like to see creations of smaller ensembles within the alumni band, a woodwind ensemble, brass ensemble, percussion ensemble and even various duos, trios, quartets, quintets and so on and so forth. By doing so, it’ll be able to give more performing opportunities especially during the occasional band camps. This would be much more meaningful rather than just coming down on Saturdays to sit around and do nothing at times. I will not say much right now, but as the months progress, I’d like to hear feedback and opinions on what you guys would like to see in the coming year, be it performances or outings. I’d like to end on this note, Do save money. You may never know we might be going to the 2009 WMC in Holland....

- Details of KL trip
Cost of KL trip: $409
Date: 11th - 14th December 06
The cost of the trip is to be paid to the treasurer, Su'aidah, by 4th Nov, along with the consent and particulars form. You will be getting the forms by next Saturday, 14th Oct.

- Scores
The first 3 scores will be played during the competition. The rest are for performances.

RE: Band Festial in KL

Dear Alumni,

Bedok North Secondary School is organising the above during the Decemeber holidays for band members.

The objectives of this festival are as follows:
1. To provide an opportunity for members to gain experience and confidence in performing in different social settings.
2. To learn the best practices from top bands from other countries.

The date for this trip is 12th to 15th of December 2006.
The estimated cost per person is $450.

We hope that you are able to go for this trip. Those who has agreed to go will have to attend practices to prepare themselves with the trip.

We are playing 3 pieces of which one is already confirm. Mr Lim is still searching for the other two. The practice ground will be at Bedok North Secondary School. Schedule will be given out after the comfirm number of replies.

A deposit of $100 are to be paid to the treasurer, Su'aidah, if you are going by the end of 2nd week of October.

More information will be given out once i've clarified things.

Dear Alumni,

I apologise for not updating this blog as frequent as it should be. Currently, everyone has started school in either JC, MI, Poly, ITE and Lasalle. Many good luck wishes to all of you. And this is so obvious, STUDY HARD. (:

As some of you all know, there will be a trip to KL this coming December for music festval that will be held there. Please check your email as Yong Lin have sent an email regarding this. The date will be 12th December 2006. 4 days 3 nights at a 5 star hotel. Please reply to the email Yong Lin had sent via DMAA email; bnss_dmaa@hotmail.com

If you are interested, please come for all rehearsals and sectionals .
Rehearsal will be compromise according to everyone's schedule.
